FAQ

1. How far in advance should I book my portrait session?

I recommend booking 1 to 2 months in advance. This lead time allows us to schedule your initial consultation to shape the concept, mood, and wardrobe direction for your shoot.

Booking early is important if you're planning around specific seasons, project deadlines, or if you wish to shoot in a studio space — as studio hire often require advance booking to secure your preferred date and time.

2. How do I choose the location for the session?

During our initial consultation, we'll talk about the mood and feel, then explore locations that complement it. This might be an outdoor location, an indoor setting, or a studio, depending on the overall aesthetic you'd like to achieve in the final images. Studio hire is available at an additional cost.

3. What should I wear during the shoot?

What you wear plays a key role in shaping the mood of your images. I recommend bringing 1–2 curated outfits with light layering to add variety and depth.

We'll talk through your outfit ideas during our consultation to see how they can work with the chosen location and mood.

4. What happens if Melbourne weather doesn't cooperate on the day?

Melbourne weather can be unpredictable! Overcast skies and light Melbourne rain can actually create soft, atmospheric lighting that might fit the exact mood you’re after.

However, if extreme weather or heavy downpours occur, I'll work with you to reschedule your session to the next mutually available date at no extra charge.

5. What is the difference between proofing and hand-retouched images?

After your shoot, you’ll receive access to a private online proofing gallery to view the lightly edited collection and handpick your 15 favourite images. Once chosen, each selected image undergoes individual hand-retouching — including colour grading, skin touch-up, and clean-up — to ensure a professional finish.

6. Can I purchase additional retouched images beyond the 15-image limit?

Yes. Your session includes 15 hand-retouched images, you're welcome to pick as many additional favourites as you like from the proofing gallery.

If you choose more than the included 15 images during proofing, I’ll confirm the final number and cost before I begin hand-retouching.

Additional hand-retouched images are $30 per image, or $135 for 5 images.

7. What is the payment and booking process?

A 50% deposit is required to secure your date, after which I’ll schedule our initial consultation to start planning your session. The remaining balance is due 14 days prior to your shoot date. I accept payment via direct bank transfer.
